International Yoga Day Celebration
June 19th 2016 in London
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, in collaboration with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are honoured to celebrate the second International Yoga Day on June the 19th, 2016.

Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment, harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing” said Prime Minister Modi. In the same spirit, the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres have been teaching yoga as a life style for the last 60 years in 50 different Centres and Ashrams.

The UN resolution establishing the International Yoga Day noted “the importance of individuals and populations making healthier choices and following lifestyle patterns that foster good health.” Swami Vishnudevananda, the founder of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, was a pioneer in using yoga as a tool for attaining health, wholeness and individual and world peace.

This celebration is promoting the true spirit of yoga. Yoga does not only bring individual health and wellbeing, it reconnects us with our true self. It carries a powerful message of unity and peace and offers clear and practical solutions to help overcome the consciousness crisis the world is facing.
